Yalameh rugs are Persian village rugs woven in the region of Iran. They bear a close resemblance to Shiraz, Qashqai, and Khamseh carpets—although Yalamehs generally have brighter colours than these other types of Persian rug. Albeit Yalamehs are a newer collection/design in comparison to their mentioned counterparts.

 The history of Yalameh rugs can be traced back to the nomadic tribes of the Yalameh region in southwestern Iran. These tribes were known for their weaving skills and produced rugs for their own use. However, with the advent of the rug market in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Yalameh weavers began to create rugs specifically for sale. Over time, the designs of Yalameh rugs evolved to incorporate more intricate patterns and brighter colors, which appealed to buyers in the West.

Today, Yalameh rugs are still produced by the nomadic tribes of the region, as well as by settled weavers in nearby villages. The rugs are typically made using wool from local sheep and natural dyes made from plants and insects. The latch-hooked medallion design, which is unique to Yalameh rugs, is believed to have been influenced by the designs of other Persian rugs, as well as by the geometric patterns found in tribal textiles.

Yalameh rugs have become increasingly popular in recent years, thanks to their striking designs and high-quality craftsmanship. They are considered to be among the most collectible of all Persian rugs and are often prized for their durability and vivid colours.
