However, research carried out by carpet scholars over the past decade or so has begun o out matters right. Rug designs in earlier times had a more naturalistic form, nut the advent of Islam brought in non-representational and decorative patterns.
The majority of Shahsavan weavings available today are flat woven and in this field the Shahsavan are considered to be master weavers, they rarely weave pile rugs unlike other tribes.
The knotted-pile weavings found al belonged to the nineteenth century ad was skilfully made. All Shahsavan ae symmetrically knotted and have a softness of wool and flexibility of weave which appears unmistakable.
This one is woven with good quality wool and is hard wearing as well as being decorative and beautiful. Shahsavan is commonly known to have geometrical designs being a tribal piece.
