Karadja
The Karadja district is an area in the North West of Heriz, where there are a group of half a dozen villages, of which the pretty and prosperous village of Karadja is the most renowned. Karadja is situated on the Tabriz to Ahar road. The village has given its name to a type of rug and runner which is unique, well known and unmistakable. The rugs are single wefted, closely woven and well finished. All the villages of the group weave the same design. The grounds of the rugs and runners are usually madder red, and the borders dark blue. They are very decorative rugs with geometric design.
This one has good quality wool which is a perfect companion in homes with both traditional or modern furnishing and decor. Karadja rugs are very much sought after, both in Europe and in America, for their unique designs.
