The Bidjar is characterized by design themes that are bold, yet graceful. Many rugs have a central medallion motif and triangular corners separated by a well-defined field. The field may contain a latticework of small, repetitive forms calls Herati. One identifying characteristic of the Bidjar design is its use of bold outlining between the design elements in the carpet. The medallions are typically outlined with a broad band of light colour.
